CBSE Class 9 Answered
The shrinking and separation of the cytoplasm from the cell wall due to exosmosis of water from the protoplast is called plasmolysis.
Deplasmolysis occurs in a hypotonic environment, where water diffuses into the cell and causes its volume to increase. If the volume of water exceeds the cell membrane's capacity then the cell will burst.
Deplasmolysis occurs in hypotonic environment whereas plasmolysis occurs in hypertonic environment.
Shrinking of cytoplasm occurs in plasmolysis whereas the shrunk cytoplasm expands in plasmolysis.
