Differences between DPT and BCG vaccines:

DPT vaccine

BCG vaccine
  • DPT stands for Diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus.
  • BCG stands for Bacillus Calmette Guerin.
  • DPT vaccine acts against three diseases- diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus.
  • BCG vaccine acts against tuberculosis.
  • DPT is a combination vaccine.
  • BCG is a single vaccine.
  • It consists of toxoids and killed whole cells of the bacterium.
  • It consists of live bacteria.
