The types of meristematic tissues are:
i) Apical mersitems - They are present at the growing tips of stems and roots and also at the apices of the leaves. This mersitem is responsible for increasing the height of the plant.
ii) Lateral meristem - They are present in thin layers beneath the bark and in vascular bundles of dicot roots and stems. The girth of the stem or root increases due to lateral meristem.
iii) Intercalary meristem - They are located at the base of the leaves or internodes. This meristem produces an increase in length of organ.
