Derive 1st equation from 3rd equation?

The third equation is:
v2 = u2 + 2as
where symbols have their usual meaning.
now second equation says that, s = ut + 1/2at2
replacing s in the 3rd equation with this,
v2 = (u + at)2
thus on getting the square root of both the sides, we can get the first equation.
