Define one light year & also give its relation with per second.

One light year is the distance travelled by light in one year.
 
The speed of light in vacuum is 3×108 m/s.
 
Thus, the distance travelled by light is
 
 
Light year is a unit of distance and hence cannot be related to per second.
However, we can say that light travels 3×108 metres per second.
