Expert Answer
Equivalent resistance represents the total or overall effect off all resistors in the circuit.
For resistors R1,R2 and R3 connected in series, the effective resistance Re is given by
Re = R1+R2+R3
For resistors R1,R2 and R3 connected in parallel, the effective resistance Re is given by
(1/Re) = (1/R1)+(1/R2)+(1/R3)
Effective resistance implies a single resistance equivalent to the total resistance of all other resistors in the circuit.It is purely a resistive property.Equivalent resistance is defined between the two terminals or nodes of the network
