Variation refers to differences in morphology, physiology, or behavior among individuals of a species. It is caused by genetic and environmental factors.
Heredity refers to the biological process wherein genetic factors are transmitted from one generation to the next.
Cytogenetics is the branch of biology that studies the cellular aspects of heredity, especially the chromosomes. In other words, it is the study of inheritance in relation to the structure and function of chromosomes.
