Tropic movements are essential for the growth, development and reproduction of plants.
Eg.Positive phototropism exhibited by the shoot allows the plant stem to grow towards the source of light. Hence its leaves are well exposed to sunlight, which enables them to carry out photosynthesis. Similarly the plant root is positively geotropic. This helps to provide firm anchorage for roots and ensure that the plant can get adequate supply of water & mineral salts.
