Per capita income is the average income of the people of the country. It is estimated by dividing total income of the country by its total population.
According to 2004 report, Sri Lanka has the percapita income of $4390 while in India, the percapita income is $3139. The percapita income of Sri Lanka is higher than the per capita income of India. This is due to number of reasons. One of the reson is that the literacy and the life expectancy rates of Srilankans are higher than the Indians.
