Potential resources: Potential resources are those resources which are found in the region but have not been used. For example, the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan have tremendous potential for the development of solar energy, but it has not been fully used till yet.

Developed resources: Developed resources are those resources whose quality and quantity have been determined for utilisation.

Stock: These are resources which can satisfy human needs, but humans do not have the technical know-how to utilise these resources.

Reserves: Humans have the technology of harnessing the reserve resources, but their use has not been started.
