can you please tell me what signs should i use for image distance object distance and focal length of both the mirrors and lenses?

Expert Answer
The sign convention for object and image distances for lenses and mirrors are same.
If object is placed to the left of lens/mirror, then its distance is negative. If it is to the rigth, then it is positive.
If image forms to the left of lens/mirror, then its distance is negative. If it forms to the rigth, then it is positive.
The focal length of convex lens is positive and that of concave is negative.
The focal length of convex mirror is negative and that of concave mirror is positive.
