can we say that protecting the genetic material of a cell is one of the function of the nucleus?

The cell nucleus contains most of the cell's genetic material, organized as multiple long linear DNA molecules in association with various proteins to form chromosomes or chromatin. An important function of the nucleus is to maintain the integrity of these genes and to control the activities of the cell by regulating gene expression.
