can sodium be used to dry ethanol ? give reason.

Yes sodium can be used as fine wire or as chips for drying ethanol. Sodium reacts with ethyl alcohol forming sodium ethoxide but it will first react with water (forming NaOH and H2). Calculate and add the amount of sodium needed to react with water. After the reaction you have to distill the absolute ethyl alcohol.
