No. of ways of selecting three numbers out of digits from 1 to 9 =9C3=9*7*8/6=84,for ascending order numbers should be distinct.
Now to form three digit no. in ascending order any three selected numbers will be arranged in only 1 way. So here using digits from 1 to 9, 84 three digits numbers can be made which can be arranged in ascending order.
