The cell is the basic structural and functional unit of life. The membrane-bound living structures of a cell which are specialized to perform specific functions inside a cell are called cell organelles.
The different types of cell organelles are nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, Golgi apparatus, ribosomes, lysosomes, centrosomes (in animal cell only) and plastids (in plant cell only).
