Blood clots form to prevent blood loss when a blood vessel ruptures or is cut.But sometimes when a blood clot forms and cuts off the blood supply to a part of the brain, a stroke is caused by an artery to the brain becoming blocked. So when blood supply is cut off from a part of the brain, oxygen and other nutrients cannot be delivered to that part of the brain and cells begin to die.The neurons in this portion of the brain stops working, which can cause damage throughout the body.
