write down the O.N of all the elements in the reaction, then check which element is undergoing reduction or oxidation by how many units. Try and see by multiplying with the other elements shift in # of  unit charges( cross multiply with the shift in Oxidation or Reduction in units. eg Cr+3-------> Cr+7 shift of 4 units multiply this 4 to other element and other elements shift in # with Cr.)
