I dont know what u mean by obsrvatory projects, but in case u mean astronomical observatory, then u can take a very good project of mapping the constelations and other important heavenly bodies like supernovas, galaxies in sky at this time of year and ralate their motion with the earth's rotational velocity and orbital velocity.
u can get detailed star charts and other important information from some softwares called Skymap, celestia both of which have versions in windows and ubuntu and are free.
