As single citizenship means that any citizen of india is first a citizen of INDIA rather than any of state like punjab, harayana or goa. As, Austrilia is also giving single citizenship.

The Constitution of India has established a single and uniform citizenship for the whole of the country. . All the people irrespective of the states or territories in which they reside are the citizensof the country. This is unlike USA, where a citizen is a citizen of USA and the state in which he/she resides.
