if you join the diagonal and consider the shaded area as divided into two congruent parts then we can find the area of one part and double it.
area of half part of the shaded portion
=areaof the sector - area of the triangle
=[(90/360)*(22/7)*(8)*(8)]-32
=128/7
so required area
= double of 128/7
=256/7
