Expert Answer

The amount of water flowing thru' the canal in half hour

=6*1.5*5000 cubic meter.(in 1 hr 10,000 meter, so in half hour,5000 meter.)

This volume =A*0.08 meter(A is the required area and 0.08 meter=8 cm = required standing height)

Solve this equation to get A.

 That will be the answer.
