Four circles can't touch each other, but each circle can touch two others.
When two circles of radius a touch each other, the line joining their centers is of length 2a.
So, we will have a square of side 2a where the vertices of the square are actually the centres of these circles.
So,the required area
= Area of the square - 4(area of the sector of one corcle of radius a and central angle 90)
