 Energy bars have almost the same number of calories as candy bars, but most have half the fat and sugar, plus more fiber and vitamins.

The major advantage of energy bars is convenience. You can get your nutrients in a nicely wrapped, compact bar. But if you are using the bars as a meal replacement, you may be missing out on many nutrients, fiber, and phytochemicals that are in whole foods, but not in energy bars.

So though an energy bar may be better than a candy bar, it definitely cannot replace a fresh fruit or vegetable as a snack choice.
