Children are more likely to fall ill than adults. This is due to their lowered resistance to diseases. Also their immune system takes time to become well developed. Many of the diseases are encountered for the first time during childhood. So the immune system does not have any memory of these pathogens and cannot prevent the disease from occuring. Also exposure to pollutants will have more harmful effects on children than adults.
