Expert Answer:
Comparing given eqaution with standard equation ( y= Asin(ωt- kx)) of wave we get
Amplitude (A) = 1.2m
As we know angular frequency ω =2πf
So f = ω/2π = 3.5/2π = 0.56 Hz
Maximum velocity of particle = A×ω = 1.2× 3.5 = 4.2 ms-1

(ii) If the pulse rate is 1 after every 20s (i.e the whistle is blown for a split second after every 20s), is the frequency of the note produced by the whistle equal to 1/20 = 0.05 Hz?
