An insect is sitting on the edge of a wheel of diameter 70 cm . The wheel is moved ahead by a distance of 11 m along a straight path by rotating five times . What is the displacement of the insect sitting on the wheel.

The insect is sitting at the edge of the wheel. When the wheel completes one rotation, the insect comes back to the same position on the wheel. Hence, its displacement should be zero.
But, in the mean time the wheel has moved forward by 11 m along a straight line path. Hence, the final position of the insect is 11 m away from the initial position along the straight path.
Hence, the displacement of insect is 11m.
