Force F acting on the charge q in electric field E is given as, F = ( qE )
Acceleration a experienced by charge, a = force / mass = (qE)/m ..........................(1)
Vertical displacement due to electric field, y = (1/2) a t2 ..................................(2)
where t is time of travel in electric field, t = distance / speed = x/v .........................(3)
Using eqn.(1) and eqn.(3) , we get vertical displacement y from eqn.(2) as
y = (1/2) [ (qE ) / m ] ( x / v )2
