An army contingent has 9820 men in total .They are required to stand for inspection in equal numbers of rows and columns. Find the number of men in each row and column . How many men are left out

The number of rows and columns are equal.
Hence square of a number should be equal to 9820.
But 9820 is not a square number, hence we find the closest square number which is 992 = 9801
So the number of men in each row and column is 99, and the number of men left out = 19....(9820-9801=19)
