An agent receives a commission of Rs 45 on sales of Rs 1500. How much commission will he get on sale of Rs 1000?

Since more sales means more commission and less sales means less commission, so sales and commission are varying directly.

Writing the information in the table, we have

Commission (in Rs)

Sales (in Rs)

1500

1000

Now, in case of direct variation the ratio remains constant, so we have

Hence, the commission is Rs 30.
