  • Ammonia gas occupies volume of 450ml at a pressure of 720mm of HG what volume will it occupies at standard pressure at the same temperature
Given:

Volume of ammonia, V= 450 ml

Pressure, P1 = 720 mmHg

Standard pressure P2 = 1 atm = 760 mmHg

Volume, V2 = ?

Using Boyle's law,

P1V1 =P2V2

V2 = P1V1/ P2

     = (720 × 450) / 760

V2 = 426 ml

Volume at standard pressure is 426 ml.
