Dear student,
A couple of things to remember - IF you have an accident, you're losing some protection. And also if the SRS sytem triggers, it's gonna put 12 volt pulse into that little resistor, and the resistor will probably burn out , perhaps with some smoke and heat - though not much as it's a little 1/4 watt - probably just a "pop" and some smoke. It'll be a lot less damage and cost than the air bag, but won't protect you as well.
