Let the present age of the son be x years and that of the father be y years.
After 5 years,the age of son and father will be x+5 and y+5 years.
Given,after 5 years,the age of father will be twice the age of son.
Thus,y+5=2(x+5)
Thus,the linear equation in 2 varaibles to represent the statement is:
y-2x=5
