In case of flight or fight reaction to an emergency situation,
Adrenal glands à release adrenaline into blood à which acts on heart and other tissues à causes faster heart beat à more oxygen to muscles à reduced blood supply to digestive system and skin à diversion of blood to skeletal muscles à increase in breathing rate due to contractions of rib and diaphragmmuscles.
All these responses together enable the animal body to be ready to deal with emergency situations.
