A wooden article was made by scooping out a hemisphere from each end of a cylinder. If the height of the cylinder is 15cm, and the base is of diameter 14 cm, find the total surface area of the article when it is ready.

Expert Answer
Total surface area of the given solid = CSAcylinder + CSAboth hemispheres
= (2pie*r*h) + 2(2pie*r*r)
= 2 * pie * 7 * 15 + 2*2*pie*7*7
= 660 + 616
= 1276cm2
