Let a, be the side of the resultant square.
Between any two opposite ends, the length is 2a.
Total length = 4a = l.
Since R l, the two resistance between opposite ends, i.e. R1 and R2 are equal and,
R1 R2
l/2
R/2.
The equilalent resistance = R1R2/(R1+R2)
= R2/4/(R/2+R/2) = R/4 Answer.
