A wire has a resistance of 6 ohm .It is cut into two parts which are connected in parallel what will be the resultng resitance? And please tell me how to find the resistance of an infinite resistance?

Expert Answer:
Dear Student
(1) R = ρ l / A
for new resistance R', l' = l/2, ρ and A are same. therefore R' = R/2.
In parallel Rparallel = R'R' / (R'+R') = R'/2 = R/4.
(2) Infinite Resistance: Please post this as a separate query.
