As the train starts from rest, u = 0
v = 40 km/ h =11 m/s 
t =10 min = 10 × 60 = 600 s
By first equation of motion,
 
v = u + at 
11 = 0 +  a (600)
Thus,
a = 11/600 = 0.018 m/s2
