a stone tied to the end of string 80 cm long is whirled in a horizontal circle with a constant speed. if the stone makes 14 revolutions in 25 seconds, what is the magnitude and direction of the acceleration of the stone.

Expert Answer:
The acceleration will be directed towards the centre of the circular loop.
angular velocity = 2πf = 2 x 22/7 x 14/25 = 88/25 rad/s
Centripetal acceleration = rω2 = 0.8 m x 88 x 88 / 225 = 27.53 m/s2
