say, vel of remaining part: x at an angle ? with horizontal.
now equate, the x comp of momentum and y comp of momentum before and after explosion.
mv0=3/4 mx sin? + 0 y comp of mom
0=3/4 mx cos?+m/4 2v0
x sin ?=4v0/3
