A projectile projected at a certain angle with the horizontal hits the ground at P. However, if this particle explodes at the highest point into two pieces of equal mass. In the explosion, only the internal forces are involved and internal forces can not change the motion of centre of mass, So after explosion will takes place, the centre of mass continue to move along the same parabolic path. Since the two fragments are of equal mass, therefore, P would be the mid way between Q and R.
