**A park in the shape of a quadrilateral ABCD , has angle C =90 , AB=9m , CD=5m , BC=12m and AD=8m. How much area does it occupy?**

In triangle BCD using Pythagoras theorem

BD

= (12)

= 144 + 25

BD

BD = 13 m

^{2}= BC^{2}+ CD^{2}= (12)

^{2}+ (5)^{2}= 144 + 25

BD

^{2}= 169BD = 13 m

Find area of triangle BCD we get 30 m

^{2}Find area of triangle ABD using Heron's formula we get 35.496 m

^{2}Area of park = Area of triangle ABD + area of triangle BCD = 65.5 m

^{2}approximately.
