a metal M 96 g/mol reacts with fluorine to form MFx.in order to determine x a 9.18 grams of a sample ofa salt is dissolved in 100 grams of water and its boiling point was determined to be 374.38k .what is the chemical formula of the salt assuming complete dissociation .Kb =.529(x=4)

Expert Answer:
Kb =0.529, Boiling point of water is 100°C hence, ΔTb = 374.38-373 = 1.38 K
Mb = Kb x 1000 x wsample / ΔTb x wwater
= 0.529 x 1000 x 9.18 / (1.38 x 100)
= 35.19 g
Clearly the molar mass is not 35.19 because it cant even account for the metal M of 96g.
