A metal cube of side 11 cm is completely submerged in water contained in a cylindrical vessel with diameter 28 cm. Find the rise in the level of water.

Expert Answer
displaced volume of water in cylinderical tank is equal to volume of metal cube.
volume of metal cube = ( 11×11×11 ) cm3
rise in water level = (displaced volume)/(area of cross section) = ( 11×11×11 ) / [ π×14×14 ] = 2.16 cm
