Expert Answer:
Dear Student
a. The friction coefficient between the card and the coin should be small.
b. Coin should be heavy.
c.The experiment fails in case the card is pulled gently.
When the card is pulled swiftly, there is very less time for the transfer of momentum from the moving card to the coin. Hence the coin is left behind, the card moves forward. The coin falls into the glass.
In case the card is pulled gently, the elongated time interval of movement allows the momentum to get transferred from the card to the coin. The coin also begins to move along with the card. Hence it fails to fall into the glass. It will fall outside the glass.
We hope that clarifies your query.
