A field is 60m long and 40m wide, in one corner of the field a pit of dimension 10m x 8m x 5m is dug and the soil taken out is spread evenly over the remaining part of field. Find rise in the level of field?

Expert Answer:
Total area of field = 60*40=2400 m2
Area of field which is dug = 10*8=80 m2
Remaing area, where soil is spread = 2400 - 80 = 2320m2
Amount of soil taken out = 10*8*5 = 400 m3
Therefore, rise in level = 400/2320 =0.1724 m = 17.24 cm
