Expert Answer

Length of copper wire Lc= 2.2 m

Length of steel wire Ls = 1.6 m

Diameter d = 3 mm = 3 × 10–3 m

Cross sectional are =

Net elongation (lc + ls) = 0.70 mm = 7 × 10–4 m    ....(1)

Let load applied is F.

Ys = 2.0 × 1011 N/m2

Tc = 1.3 × 1011 N/m2

Apply (2) and (3)

Plug in the values

From (1) and (4)

From Equation (2)
