A car initially at rest picks up a velocity of 72 km/hr in 20 seconds.If the mass of the car is 1000 kg, calculate : (i) the force developed by its engine (ii) distance covered by the car in 20 seconds ?

Step 1) In order to find force, we need mass and acceleration. Mass is given, and so the first step is to find acceleration. From the data given, we have u = 0 and v = 72 km/h = 20 m/s. Also, t = 20 s. So, use a = (v - u)/t to find a.
 
Step 2) Find force by using the formula F = ma
 
Step 3) Distance covered is to be found from the formula v2 = u2 + 2as
