6 Differences between transverse and longitudnal waves

1/Longitudinal waves - the vibrations are parallel to the direction of propogation of the wave, while they are perpendicular in trasnverse waves.

2/The same phase points, maximum and minimum displacement, are called compressions and rarefactions in longitudinal waves, whereas they are called crests and troughs in transverse waves.

3/In longitudinal waves areas of high and low pressure are present, while they are absent in transverse waves.

4/Example of longitudinal waves is sound wave, whereas water waves, waves on string, are examples of trasverse waves.
