Let the ratio be x/y.
x/y = 5/2
2x = 5y
2x - 5y = 0 ....(i)
Each is increased by 1 the ratio between the new numbers so formed is 7 : 3.
(x+1)/(y+1) = 7/3
3x + 3 = 7y + 7
3x - 7y = 4.....(ii)
Solving (i) and (ii) we get
x = 20 and y = 8
