CBSE Class 12-science Answered
2 capillary tubes of diameter 6mm and 3mm r joined 2gether 2 form a U-Tube open at both ends.If the U-tube s filld with water, what is its difference in its levels n the two limbs of the tube?
Surface Tension of water = 7.3*10power-2 or 7.3*10^-2 N/m.
Angle of contact to be zero.Density of water =10Kg/m3. g=10m/s2.

Expert Answer
This is similar to capillary rise. Compare to the limb of 6mm diameter tube, there will be rise of water column in the limb of 3mm diameter tube.
Rise in height h = 2S/(ρga), where S is surface tension, ρ is water density, g is acceleration due to gravity and a is radius of tube.
answer is nearly 10 mm
